CYCLING – Team Bahrain Victorious rider Matevz Govekar narrowly missed out on a place in the top 10 yesterday on stage four of the 105th Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, currently taking place in Spain.
Govekar was part of a large bunch sprint to the finish and was classified 14th, with Ethan Vernon of NSN Cycling Team claiming the win in four hours one minute and three seconds after 151 kilometres of action.
Santiago Buitrago followed in 31st as Bahrain Victorious’s second-best rider yesterday.
Jakob Omrzel was 78th, Lenny Martinez 81st, and Afonso Eulalio was 143rd, while the team’s roster was rounded out by Nikias Arndt and Rainer Kepplinger in 145th and 146th, respectively.
With yesterday’s results, Martinez stayed as the squad’s top-ranked member on the general classification in 27th, having dropped eight places. He also went down four spots to eighth on the best young rider ranking, while Omrzel fell one position to ninth.
Bahrain Victorious remained in the top 10 on the teams’ standings, going down one place to eighth.
Stage five of the seven-stage race takes place today over 155.3km.
