CYCLING – Alec Segaert was Team Bahrain Victorious’s best finisher yesterday in the 123rd Paris-Roubaix elite men’s road race, held in France.
The Belgian finished the one-day Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) World Tour event in 16th.
It was the third Monument of the international cycling season, and it featured a total distance of 258.3km.
A Monument is one of five classic races generally considered to be the oldest, hardest, longest, and most prestigious one-day events in men’s road cycling.
The other Monuments of the 2026 campaign were Milan-San Remo in Italy last month, Ronde van Vlaandere in Belgium earlier this month, Liege-Bastogne-Liege also in Belgium on April 26, and Il Lombardia in Italy on October 10.
Segaert was nearly four minutes behind at the finish from race winner and compatriot Wout van Aert of Team Visma-Lease a Bike, who triumphed in five hours 16 minutes and 52 seconds.
He pipped Slovenian Tadej Pogacar of UAE Team Emirates-XRG who finished as runner-up, while fellow-Belgian Jasper Stuyven of Soudal Quick-Step was also on the podium in third.
Bahrain Victorious’s Zak Erzen from Slovenia came 58th in the ride while Alessandro Borgo from Italy was 70th.
German Phil Bauhaus, Pole Kamil Gradek, and Slovenians Matej Mohoric and Matevz Govekar did not finish amongst the highly competitive, 175-strong field.
