Bahrain has strongly condemned and denounced the repeated Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting civilian and vital facilities in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Jordan.
It described the attacks as a dangerous escalation threatening civilian lives and regional stability, and a flagrant violation of international law, the UN Charter, and principles of good neighbourliness.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry expressed full solidarity with the aforementioned nations, supporting all legitimate measures taken to defend their sovereignty and protect their peoples, in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter and the GCC Joint Defence Agreement.
It also commended the high readiness and capability of the Bahrain Defence Force and regional air defences in intercepting these hostile Iranian strikes.
The ministry reiterated Bahrain’s call for the UN Security Council and the international community to take decisive, deterrent action to halt Iranian aggression.
It called for Iran to be held fully accountable under international law, including UN Security Council Resolution 2817 and Human Rights Council Resolution 61/1, to ensure maritime safety in the Strait of Hormuz and protect regional and global peace and security.
The General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) announced that Iran continues its systematic hostile approach through its treacherous attacks targeting civilians in the kingdom.
The General Command stated that, with firm resolve and a high state of combat readiness, the Bahrain Defence Force’s air defence systems successfully intercepted and destroyed a number of treacherous Iranian aerial attacks yesterday.
The General Command affirmed that all its formations and units remain at the highest levels of readiness and on full alert to protect the kingdom.
It also urged the public to exercise caution, avoid approaching any unfamiliar or suspicious objects resulting from the treacherous Iranian attacks, and report them immediately.
The General Command further affirmed that personnel of the Royal Field Engineering Unit remain on full alert to safely deal with such objects, ensuring the safety of all citizens and residents.
It stressed that the deliberate use of missiles and drones to target civilians and private property constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.
The General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force also expressed its pride and appreciation for the advanced combat readiness and high vigilance demonstrated by its personnel in carrying out their sacred duty to defend the nation.
