Even the construction waste has become maniacal. At times you see empty cement bags or huge plastic covers flying over highways. I’ve seen this a lot on the Hidd highway.

How about the drainage? Bahrain doesn’t have a proper drainage system, hence every time it rains, the roads get flooded for days.

What a fantastic waste of valuable resources! While Saudi Arabia creates the Year of Water in 2027 to highlight the sensible use of such valuable resources, Bahrain wants to pour tonnes down the drain so your car can be cool for two minutes. You cannot make this stuff up.

What’s great about this is it will be owned by businessmen with connections. So when the street car washers are successfully banned, residents will be able to pay money to local businesses instead of unlicensed street washers who are trying to earn a little bit of money.

This is getting proposed while we are told not to wash the car outside our house. Who is going to foot the water bill?

That idea is completely wrong. High-pressure water alone won’t clean a car – it actually makes it look worse. If you don’t wipe it down or blow it dry with high-pressure air afterward, it leaves water spots all over the paint. A simple example is heavy rain here in Bahrain: after it rains, the cars just end up looking dirty.

It’s a pretty good idea, my car almost got burnt towards Hamala two days back due to overheating and I had to stop and open the bonnet to cool the engine before progressing.
