A 27-year-old mother and her three children – aged five, three and one – died after a fire broke out in a residential building within the Al Ramli housing complex yesterday.
The General Directorate of Civil Defence director-general said, in a statement last night, that rescue teams and vehicles were dispatched to the site as soon as they received the report.
They immediately began operations to bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading.
They also completed the necessary cooling operations to prevent the fire from reigniting.
He expressed his condolences and sympathy to the victims’ families.
An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the blaze and necessary legal procedures are being taken.
The authorities urged the public to comply with public safety and fire-prevention requirements and carry out regular maintenance of alarm and fire-fighting systems.
They highlighted the importance of ensuring the safety of electrical connections, particularly as temperatures rise, and promoting a culture of safety among family members.
They also stressed the need to monitor children and not allow them to tamper with or approach electrical appliances, cookers or ovens, given the serious risks.
