A Maine Coon kitten has tiptoed into the record books after being born with 29 toes, the most ever recorded on a cat.
The Wisconsin kitten, named Erebus Anomaly, overcame a life-threatening case of pneumonia shortly after birth before breaking a 24-year-old Guinness World Record with his extra digits.
Most cats have 18 toes, but Erebus has a genetic condition called polydactyly, which causes extra digits to develop. The trait is relatively common in the Maine Coon breed.
Erebus beat the previous world record by one toe, a mark held since 2002 by a Canadian cat named Jake.
