BASKETBALL – BAHRAIN’S under-23 men’s 3x3 basketball national team have concluded their preparations for the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
The kingdom’s representatives are scheduled to depart today for the Far East.
The quartet of Elyas Younes, Isa Jasim, Mohammed Ghazi, and Naser Alanzoor have been gearing up for their tournament with practices under head coach Bogdan Dragovic.
The men’s basketball competition is scheduled to take place from Monday to Friday next week, with a total of 16 under-23 men’s squads taking part.
The nationals are in Group C for the preliminary round alongside Qatar, Indonesia, and defending champions Chinese Taipei. Group A features Mongolia, the Philippines, Kazakhstan, and Sri Lanka; Group B comprises China, Iran, Malaysia, and Hong Kong; and Group D includes Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand.
Action in 3x3 basketball, both men’s and women’s competitions, will be held at Nagoya’s Kinjo Futo Station Square.
Bahrain are competing in the half-court game for the first time in Asian Games history. This year’s competitions will be only the third time 3x3 basketball is part of the multi-sport programme, with its debut events held in 2018.
Basketball at this year’s Asiad also includes five-on-five tournaments for men and women, both of which are ongoing.
