Bahrain is harnessing efforts to establish a more competitive and resilient economic system based on empowering the private sector, promoting investment, diversifying the productive base, developing the industrial sector, and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro told our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.
The minister underscored the significance of expanding trade and export opportunities and making greater use of trade agreements, saying that the next phase would focus on building on the progress achieved in the business and industrial environment, with greater emphasis on innovation, technology and sustainability.
He underlined the importance of raising productivity, strengthening regional and global value chains, and developing industrial areas to meet the needs of investors and modern industries.
“The ministry is working to improve the investors’ journey, streamline procedures and advance digital transformation, while continuing to protect consumers, ensure fair competition, and develop quality and industrial property infrastructure,” he said. He also stressed the importance of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises as a key component of the national economy, underlining the goal of backing them and their expansion.
Mr Fakhro also shed light on “Made in GCC” Forum and Exhibition 2026, stressing that the ambition goes beyond showcasing products to building genuine industrial and trade partnerships between GCC countries and strengthening integration across production and supply chains.
This, he said, would contribute to establishing a GCC industrial identity capable of competing globally.
