Ambassador Abdullah Abdullatif Abdullah, Bahrain’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organisations in Geneva, attended the graduation ceremony for the first and second cohorts of the Joint Programme Postgraduate Diploma on Peaceful Coexistence, held at the UN Office in Geneva.
The programme was organised by the United Nations University for Peace and GIOYA Higher Education Institution, in partnership with the King Hamad Global Centre for Coexistence and Tolerance, and was attended by Muneera Nawfal Al Doseri, the Centre’s Executive Director.
In his remarks, Ambassador Abdullah congratulated the graduates and commended the organisers and partners for promoting education, dialogue and international cooperation. He stressed the growing importance of coexistence and tolerance amid global conflicts and crises, highlighting the need for a new generation committed to dialogue, understanding and peace.
He affirmed Bahrain’s commitment to peace, dialogue and international cooperation, under the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the direction of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He also underscored Bahrain’s longstanding partnership with the United Nations and its commitment to international law and collective action in addressing global challenges.
The ambassador noted that Bahrain’s 2026–2027 membership of the UN Security Council provides an opportunity to advance these principles through meaningful international action. He highlighted Bahrain’s efforts with its partners, including Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), introduced by Bahrain on behalf of the GCC states and Jordan, as well as its engagement through the UN Human Rights Council.
He also highlighted the King Hamad Global Centre’s role in advancing coexistence, tolerance, mutual respect and interfaith and intercultural dialogue through its international programmes and partnerships.
Ambassador Abdullah affirmed Bahrain’s commitment to working with the UN and international partners to advance peace, stability and prosperity, and congratulated the graduates on their achievement.
