A memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening co-operation in the field of family medicine was recently signed by the Arab Board of Health Specialisations (ABHS) and the World Organisation of Family Doctors – Eastern Mediterranean Region (WONCA EMR).
ABHS secretary-general Professor Dr Omar Al Rawas and WONCA EMR president Professor Dr Faisal Alnaser inked the pact during a ceremony at the Mövenpick Hotel Amman in Jordan.
The event was attended by ABHS assistant secretary-general Dr Jawad Diwan, members of the Scientific Council of Family Medicine, and senior advisers.
The agreement aims to expand scientific, academic and professional co-operation between the two organisations and promote the exchange of expertise.
It will also support education, training and professional development in family medicine and encourage joint scientific programmes and initiatives between the two organisations.
The agreement will address the growing need for well-trained family physicians capable of responding to the evolving needs of patients, families and health systems.
