Bahrain yesterday said it had recalled its ambassador to Tehran for consultations after what it said were repeated hostile statements made by Iranian officials.
The statements were a reflection of Iran's unfriendly attitude towards the Gulf monarchy and an interference in its internal affairs, a Foreign Affairs Ministry statement on BNA said.
Bahrain affirmed that the continuation of provocative statements by Iranian officials only reflects a hostile stance and Iran's strategy of stirring up unrest and spreading tensions in the region.
The hostile statements do not take into consideration the principles of good neighbourliness or comply with international laws, the statement added.
Furthermore, Bahrain said it was hopeful that relations would normalise between the two countries.
