MANAMA: Construction of the new Khonji Mosque located within the Deerat Al Oyoun project has started, Diyar Al Muharraq announced yesterday.
Work has been commissioned to local contractor Adaa Building Solution and the mosque will be ready to receive worshippers in April next year, it added.
The addition of the new mosque to the masterplan comes in line with the real estate developer’s commitment to serve its residents holistically, as a fully integrated modern city.
Spanning a total area of approximately 1,000sqm, the mosque can accommodate 615 worshippers.
It will include the necessary facilities to serve a neighbourhood of more than 500 homes, offering ample parking spaces and an adjoining hall for social events and gatherings.
The design of the Khonji Mosque features a seamless blend of Islamic architecture and contemporary style.
Additionally, its dome and minaret will feature geometric motifs that reflect its simultaneously modern and Islamic character.
Commenting, Diyar Al Muharraq chief executive Ahmed Ali Alammadi said, “We extend our sincere gratitude to the generous benefactors who contributed to this initiative, making the construction of this mosque possible during the holy month of Ramadan.”
