BAHRAIN has announced various welcome steps for people who are fully vaccinated, starting from the first day of Eid which will be in the second week of May.
The litmus test for having taken both doses is, of course, the BeAware app which will show the green shield for the two-jab recipients buttressed also by the vaccination certificate along with a photo of the person, again available on the app.
But there will be a good number of fully-vaccinated citizens and residents by then who will be vaccinated outside Bahrain. Some other countries, too, are making good strides on the vaccination front with whom Bahrain has good social and economic ties. This means that many Bahrain residents and citizens would have received the jabs when they were in those countries. The nations rushing to mind are the UAE, the UK, the US and India. The proof of vaccination from these and other countries will be in various forms with perhaps no uniformity; ‘Vaccine Passport’ is still in its nascent stage!
This is to request the Bahrain Government to accept such certificates/affidavits at the entry port – mainly Bahrain International Airport – as long as they are in English or Arabic and the individual’s basic details and date(s) of receiving vaccines clearly appear in them. Once the person is cleared from the airport, it will be logical that cinemas, restaurants and others follow the pattern. Even before the D-Day, people fully vaccinated abroad may enter Bahrain after undergoing the three-test regimen. A uniform guideline may help them also to gain access to outlets/establishments opening the doors to vaccinated people from Eid time.
The proposed date of implementation is still three weeks away. Given the proactive and practical approach of the authorities in Bahrain, hope they are already planning proper instructions in this regard.
