Muscat: Fines for the violation of Covid-19 protocols in the country have been greatly increased as part of preventative measures undertaken to curb its spread.
The decision was made by the Royal Oman Police (ROP) in keeping in line with the regulations of the Supreme Committee to deal with Covid-19, Times of Oman reported.
Fines for shops and commercial institutions have doubled from OMR1,500 to OMR3,000 in addition to being shut down for a month if they are found to not be following the required measures.
Individuals found guilty of any of the following four violations - failure to undergo tests and/or re-tests for Covid-19, non-compliance with the regulations concerning home and institutional quarantine, refusal to wear a tracking bracelet, removing it, destroying it, or failing to return the tracking bracelet to the authorities, and failing to register on the Tarassud coronavirus monitoring system - will be charged OMR300.
