THE sudden increase in commercial registration (CR) renewal fees by the Industry, Commerce and Tourism Ministry by 200 per cent, from BD150 to between BD300 and BD400, is unjustified.
Everyone is aware of the conditions of the businesses these days due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with most small businesses hardly earning enough to cover their expenses.
I was really shocked to see that my CR which was renewed last year for BD150 now costs between BD350 and BD450!
This is really awful; it will compel the owners of small businesses to close their business as they have to pay BD50 to BD100 to the ministry plus BD100 per activity which doesn’t make any sense except that the ministry is profiting from it.
I hope authorities concerned will review their decision and at least do not overburden the business owners with huge fees.
Please don’t make a profit by compelling the CR holders to pay double charges.
