Manama: Thirteen people have been found guilty by the High Criminal Court of being part of a major terrorist cell.
The Bahrainis, whose ages range from 21 to 37, were found guilty of being part of Saraya Al Ashtar (Al Ashtar Brigades) since 2019.
They are said to have planned several attacks in Bahrain including a bombing in an ATM machine in Manama.
Four have been jailed for life, which holds a 25-year prison sentence for establishing the terrorist group.
Four others have been jailed for 15 years for being part of the illicit group - including a 23-year-old who was also found guilty of funding the terrorist cell.
Three defendants were jailed for 10 years for their part in the crime.
The 12th defendant has been sentenced to five years in jail while the 13th accused has been jailed for three years for aiding and abetting.
The 14th defendant was found not guilty of the charges due to lack of evidence.
