New focus on jobs first for Bahrainis
Yes, system must speeded up; we have been hearing this from a long time now. We must act to save the economy, employ more Bahraini people. I have done my part. I have a business and I have employed two Bahrainis already. First, make the work visa fees double so Bahraini would be the first choice. Second, stop new work visas, increase the cost of flexi visa and then conduct regular inspections to get rid of violators and send them back to where they belong and put a lifetime ban on them.

Most of the private companies won’t even accept CVs from Bahrainis. We are living like untouchables in our own country. We are forced to poverty and suffering.

Bahrain is becoming hotter year by year and the upwards trajectory in those trends is becoming alarming since at least the past two decades. Another few years Bahrain will be unlivable even with air conditioners, what with all the looming water shortages and disruption in services. Small businesses are shutting down and the government policies aren’t helping and these people are using communal politics to divert attention from their incompetence. How can you have jobs when businesses are suffering? I know for a fact that many Bahrainis wouldn’t take up jobs that require travelling to Saudi Arabia, because they don’t want to lose on GOSI. How about addressing issues like that? Or, the Bahraini who can’t afford physiotherapy for a work-related back injury because the government facilities can’t provide him support for more than six months? And they want everyone to believe the problem is expats?

Skilled jobs such as fabrication, piping, construction, tile-fixing, mechanical, architecture, roadwork, welding, electrical, electronics and other skilled technical work will remain in Bahrain, which means expats are going nowhere; they might be here forever. It may be hard to find security guards for BD80 and labourer for BD60 from among Bahrainis. It is guaranteed that Bahrainis will never work for above-mentioned salaries.
