A TWO-DAY event to raise awareness about eye health will be held at The Avenues Bahrain today and tomorrow.
Arabian Gulf University (AGU) students will take part in the event that will be attended by ophthalmologists from Bahrain’s various hospitals and health centres, who will offer free consultations, vision tests and eye pressure readings.
“This event is part of the university’s efforts to raise awareness about eye diseases to curb the rate of visual disabilities as part of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030,” said King Abdullah Medical City consultant ophthalmic surgeon and AGU faculty member Nada Al Yousuf.
“Reports indicate that 80 per cent of vision deterioration cases worldwide can be avoided with early diagnosis, which is where awareness becomes important,” she added.
AGU student and organising committee leader Saif Al Jowder said it was their responsibility as medical students to ensure that the people know about different eye ailments.
