A WOMAN arrested in connection with a drug-related crime allegedly assaulted three police officers who confronted her for wearing revealing clothes in custody.
The 37-year-old was apprehended and taken to the Women’s Detention Centre in Isa Town in July this year.
She was waiting in line to meet a psychiatrist at the facility when female officers questioned her for dressing inappropriately.
The defendant, who was enraged, allegedly pushed and insulted the officers and caused havoc at the facility.
“I was arrested for drugs,” the defendant said in her statement to prosecutors.
“I wanted to meet the psychiatrist and I was wearing a trouser which had slits on both sides.
“A policewoman asked me to change my dress.”
“I was angry and did not know that I was not allowed to wear this type of clothing at the centre. I lost control and got into a fight with the three female officers.”
The trial has been adjourned until October 11 for review.
