An agreement to provide essential medicines and medical supplies to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip has been signed by the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF), which continues to lead from the front by working on different aid projects.
The RHF signed the agreement to provide a financial grant to the Palestinian health ministry to help provide priority medicines and medical supplies, boost the healthcare sector’s capacity to meet urgent needs, and ensure the continued delivery of healthcare services to the Palestinian people, with priority given to medical needs in the Gaza Strip.
RHF acting secretary-general Ibrahim Al Doseri and Palestinian Health Minister Dr Majed Awni Abu Ramadan inked the deal.
Mr Al Doseri affirmed that the agreement reflects the foundation’s humanitarian mission and its commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and humanitarian and healthcare efforts aimed at alleviating their suffering.
“The focus will be on providing medicines and medical supplies, particularly in the Gaza Strip,” he added.
“Through its partnerships with relevant authorities and international organisations, the foundation continues to support humanitarian projects and initiatives that address the basic needs of the Palestinian people, in line with Bahrain’s long-standing approach to supporting Palestinians.”
The GDN reported earlier this week that RHF laid the foundation stone for the Bahrain Endowment for Education and Orphans in Jerusalem, which was described as the first project of its kind in the city.
The project, to be constructed in co-operation with the Jerusalem Empowerment and Development Fund, will benefit Dar Al Tifl Al Arabi Girls’ School in the Shaikh Jarrah neighbourhood of Jerusalem.
A number of Palestinian children, including cancer patients, also received medical treatment funded by the RHF earlier this year.
The RHF continues to work in phases, in co-operation with the King Hussain Cancer Centre in Jordan and the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation, to support Palestinian children affected by the conflict.
The foundation donated $3 million in 2024 for construction of a new health centre in Jalazone refugee camp in the West Bank. The amount was handed over to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East.
The UN agency said at the time that the health centre would serve around 15,000 Palestine refugee patients.
In the same year, seven ambulances were donated to help war-hit Palestinians being treated at the Jordanian Field Hospital in Gaza. The seven fully equipped ambulances included two mobile clinics donated by Kaaf Humanitarian, charity wing of Al Eslah Society in Bahrain.
In addition, RHF has funded several welfare projects such as a health centre, library and a centre for artificial limbs, in co-operation with relevant bodies, including UN agencies, to assist thousands of Palestinians.
