MORE than 1,200 students from 25 schools across the kingdom took part in a major art carnival that encourages and honours youngsters’ artistic skills.
The 14th Faber Castell Spectra 2022, organised by the Indian Community Relief Fund, was held yesterday at the Indian School premises in Isa Town.
Participants were divided into four age groups – five to eight, eight to 11, 11 to 14 and 14 to 18. The winning entries and other outstanding creations will be used on wall calendars and desktop calendars designed for 2023.
The results will be announced and the winners honoured at a finale to be held on December 30. The calendars will also be launched on the same day.
Indian Embassy second secretary Ravishanker Shukla opened the event by lighting the lamp along with ICRF chairman Dr Babu Ramachandran, general secretary Pankaj Nallur, vice-chairman Advocate V K Thomas, adviser/ex-officio Aruldas Thomas and adviser Bhagwan Asarpota.
Also in attendance were joint secretary and Spectra convener Aneesh Sreedharan, Faber Castell country head Sanjay Bhan, Indian School chairman Prince Natarajan, principal Palaniswamy, Spectra joint convenors Nithin Jacob and Muralikrishnan among others.
Meanwhile tomorrow, the second International Online Competition Spectra 2022 will be held virtually and students from schools across the globe are invited to take part. Last year, more than 550 children from around 80 schools spread across 17 countries took part in the event.
Proceeds from the competition will go to the ICRF Family Welfare Fund to provide relief to families of deceased Indian labourers drawing wages below BD100 per month.
