NATIONAL Security Advisor and Royal Guard Commander Major General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa patronised the opening of the Royal Guard Champions Centre yesterday. The inauguration was held in conjunction with the 55th anniversary of Bahrain Defence Force (BDF).
Major General Shaikh Nasser unveiled the commemorative plaque declaring the opening of the facility which is considered the biggest sporting centre in Bahrain with an area of 2,500sqm. He was briefed on the state-of-the-art facility, which is fitted with around 140 sports equipment for various games. The centre also contains a multi-use sports track and two rings for combat sports.
Major General Shaikh Nasser toured the centre and met with a number of specialised trainers and praised the unlimited support accorded by His Majesty King Hamad, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to military sport. He also commended the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Prime Minister, and the continuous follow-up of BDF Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.
