AROUND 19,500 expats out of the estimated 800,000 foreign workers in the country earn more than BD1,000 per month in the private sector.
This information was contained in the latest Social Insurance Organisation (SIO) report for Q4 2022.
It states that 19,491 expats (four per cent), including 2,482, are registered in the high pay scale category, while 335,619 expats (including 19,748 females) or 72pc earn less than BD200 monthly.
Only 2pc, or 8,714 expat workers, are aged 60 or above, while the majority are in the 30-39 age group.
The number of non-Bahraini contributors to the SIO showed a positive growth rate of 11pc (total of 464,304), compared to consecutive negative growth rates from 2018 until 2021.
According to the latest figures, 3,100 Bahrainis in the public sector earn between BD200 and BD399, followed by 13,997 earning between BD400 and BD599, 13,040 earning between BD600 and BD799, 8,112 earning between BD800 and BD999 and 12,126 Bahrainis earning more than BD1,000 a month.
However, in the private sector 2,187 Bahrainis earn less than BD200 a month, followed by 39,474 Bahrainis earning between BD200 and BD399, 22,704 earning between BD400 and BD599, 10,513 earning between BD600 and BD799, 5,882 earning between BD800 and BD999 while 19,185 Bahrainis earn more than BD1,000 a month.
Overall, the latest data states that the total number of Bahraini SIO contributors in both the sectors was 614,624 compared to 464,304 expats.
