A MAN is in the dock for allegedly smuggling 150 heroin and methamphetamine capsules into Bahrain to sell them.
The 21-year-old Pakistani faced judges at the High Criminal Court for his first hearing yesterday.
The defendant was arrested on December 31, 2022 as he landed at Bahrain International Airport and was directed to the Red Line by suspicious Customs officers.
Although a search of the defendant’s luggage and person yielded nothing, an airport body scanner showed capsules in his abdomen.
He was escorted to a bathroom where he excreted nine capsules, then taken to the Salmaniya Medical Complex where he expelled the rest.
The Pakistani reportedly admitted to the charges to prosecutors.
The trial was adjourned to next Monday.
