CYCLING – Jack Haig was the best finisher for Team Bahrain Victorious yesterday in the Clasica San Sebastian race in Spain.
Haig finished the one-day, 236-kilometre event in 29th overall. The Australian was just under four minutes behind winner Marc Hirschi of UAE Team Emirates, who had a winning mark of five hours 46 minutes 12 seconds. Colombian teammate Santiago Buitrago followed in 41st while Norwegian Torstein Traen came 84th as Bahrain Victorious’ top three.
The event was part of the team’s lead up to their participation in the Vuelta a Espana, scheduled to get underway on Saturday later this weekend as the third Grand Tour road race of the 2024 Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) World Tour calendar. The first was the Giro d’Italia in May and the second the Tour de France last month.
