Judges have ruled to execute a man who stabbed his neighbour to death in Shakhoora.
The Bahraini defendant was found guilty of murdering Ali Mahdi Albasri, aged 57, who he left bleeding outside his apartment building on February 27.
The High Criminal Court also ordered the killer to pay damages to the victim's family, although the amount was not disclosed.
On the day of the incident, the late Mr Al Basri is said to have left his home at 6.30am to get breakfast for his family, when he ‘got into a fight over a parking spot’ with the defendant, and was eventually killed.
The defendant admitted that he was waiting for the victim to leave his apartment so he could attack him and end his life.
The man's defence attempted to get him acquitted by repeatedly claiming that he could not be held accountable for his actions on psychological grounds, but a panel of psychiatrists declared him fit to stand trial, twice.
