Creatively designed products made by a group of talented youth are now being sold at LuLu Hypermarket in Dana Mall to support children with cancer.
The Future Society for Youth’s ‘Smile’ initiative which provides psychosocial support to children with cancer and their families in Bahrain, has officially launched the first ‘Smile Dokkan (Shop)’ stand at the hypermarket.
Present at the launch was LuLu retail director Juzer Rupawala and society chairman Sabah Al Zayani.
‘Smile Dokkan’ offers a range of high-quality items that have been carefully developed to meet the expectations of the public, while also ensuring a sustainable revenue stream for the initiative.
Earlier this year, the society launched its ‘Smile Dokkan’, a creative platform to support children with cancer and to sell a variety of merchandise that will be made available online and at retail hubs across the country.
The products include bags, bottles, books and mugs, carrying striking designs by Bahraini artists, with proceeds from the sales set to help children with cancer and their families.
In addition, stands are planned to be set up in other LuLu Hypermarket branches and affiliated malls across country.
Customers will also have the option to purchase items through Jahez delivery app, expanding accessibility and engagement with the initiative.

Mugs on sale to support the cause
“The launch of the first ‘Smile Dokkan’ stand at Dana Mall marks a significant milestone in our journey to support children with cancer,” said Mr Al Zayani.
“It is the first in a planned series of stands across Lulu Hypermarket locations, and it reflects the strong public interest we received during the pilot phase of the project, which began last September.”
He said the initiative aligns with their goals to expand support services for young patients and their families, and further reflects LuLu Hypermarket Group’s genuine commitment to social responsibility and meaningful community engagement.
“We are proud to collaborate with the ‘Smile’ initiative on this impactful humanitarian endeavour,” said Mr Rupawala.
“At LuLu Group, we firmly believe in the importance of meaningful community engagement and remain committed to supporting initiatives that enhance the well-being of children with cancer and their families.

“We will continue to offer all necessary support to ensure the sustained success of this initiative, in line with our long-standing dedication to social responsibility.”
The ‘Smile’ initiative was launched in 2012 by the society and includes a wide range of programmes all year round, proceeds of which are directed toward sustaining the initiative’s commitment to support children clinically and emotionally. These include interactive weekly hospital visits, targeted psychological and recreational sessions and both financial and emotional support to families.
In the past, ‘Smile’ has successfully collaborated with private sector and government entities, particularly the Health Ministry and Government Hospitals, as well as the Social Development Ministry, to spread awareness about the cause and raise funds for children suffering from the disease.
Last year, 47 children who had successfully battled cancer were honoured at a graduation ceremony held by the society as part of the 11th edition of the ‘Kids R Golden’ campaign.
