The Amir of Kuwait, Shaikh Meshal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, received Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and the accompanying delegation, at Bayan Palace yesterday.
The meeting took place at the outset of the Interior Minister’s visit to Kuwait.
The meeting was attended by Kuwaiti First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Shaikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al Sabah.
Gen Shaikh Rashid extended greetings of His Majesty King Hamad and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, along with their wishes for Kuwait’s continued progress and prosperity under Shaikh Meshal’s leadership.
He expressed Bahrain’s pride in the long-standing relations that unite the two countries in various domains.
He also emphasised the kingdom’s firm stance in supporting Kuwait, its leadership and people, and standing by it in all that preserves its security and stability and protects its sovereignty, within the framework of maintaining Gulf unity and strengthening GCC solidarity.
Kuwait’s Crown Prince Shaikh Sabah Al Khaled Al Hamad Al Mubarak Al Sabah also received Gen Shaikh Rashid, who extended the King’s and HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s wishes for Kuwait and its people for continued progress and prosperity.
Gen Shaikh Rashid highlighted the long-standing relations that unite Bahrain and Kuwait, commending the joint efforts to enhance co-operation and integration between the two countries, particularly in the security field.
He also met Shaikh Fahad, noting that Bahrain would contribute to enhancing security co-ordination.
He noted that Kuwait and Bahrain are essentially one country, and that there are multiple areas for security co-operation.
Both sides agreed to sign memoranda of understanding in the coming period, covering co-operation in police training, civil protection, combating violence and addiction, alternative sentencing, and open prisons, as part of efforts to strengthen joint co-operation.
Gen Shaikh Rashid said that, based on the partnership relations aimed at developing the prospects of security co-operation and the tangible progress witnessed in various domains, there is an aspiration for this meeting to be an exceptional and constructive step in the course of security co-operation and co-ordination.
