THE visit by Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari to Bahrain is a milestone in strengthening bilateral ties, His Majesty King Hamad has said.
It underscores the shared commitment to advancing the partnership, he said during official talks with President Zardari at Gudaibiya Palace yesterday.
Upon arrival, accompanied by First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, President Zardari was accorded an official reception.
His Majesty and the visiting leader reviewed the long-standing historic ties and the ongoing development of bilateral co-operation.
His Majesty said Bahrain values Pakistan’s pivotal role in defending the causes of the Arab and Islamic nations, and its efforts to promote security, peace and stability at both the regional and international levels.
His Majesty awarded the Order of Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa (First Class) to the President, in recognition of his efforts in supporting co-operation between the two countries.
The King also hosted a luncheon in honour of the visiting leader.
