Bahrain, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Jordan sent three letters to the United Nations Secretary General António Guterres, and China’s permanent representative Fu Cong, in his capacity as president of the Security Council for the month of May, to highlight the attacks that targeted these countries and were carried out from Iraq by Iran-aligned factions, militias, and armed terrorist groups.
These aggressions constitute a serious and unjustified escalation and reflect a recurring pattern of hostile acts aimed at undermining regional security and stability.
The six countries expressed strong condemnation and categorical rejection of the recent statements issued by an Iranian official regarding countries in the region and the Strait of Hormuz, including the unacceptable claims about the so-called “management” or new “legal rules” for the strait.
They also provided a detailed rebuttal of allegations and claims made in a letter issued by Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations on April 30, with the aim to distort facts and misrepresent the legal context of events – particularly the allegations of an “aggression” by a number of GCC countries against Iran.
