Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani attended a meeting with ambassadors of European Union member states accredited to Bahrain. The meeting was hosted by Cyprus Ambassador Dr Andreas Eliades, marking the conclusion of Cyprus’s presidency of the Council of the European Union. The minister praised Cyprus’s efforts during its presidency and reaffirmed the strength of Bahrain’s ties with EU member states, highlighting Bahrain’s commitment to further strengthening co-operation and partnership with the European Union, including within the UN Security Council. Dr Al Zayani also welcomed European countries’ condemnation of Iranian attacks targeting Bahrain, GCC countries, and Jordan. He commended their firm stance, calling on Iran to cease its actions and end the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. The ambassadors reaffirmed their solidarity with Bahrain and the GCC, condemned Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and stressed its potential impact on global energy supplies, food security and international trade. The meeting was attended by Director General of Bilateral Relations Shaikh Abdulla bin Ali Al Khalifa and the ministry’s Acting Chief of the European Affairs Sector Shaikha Al Anood bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa.
