US President Donald Trump has claimed in a Truth Social post that Morocco named its longest highway after him, sharing a video on the platform stating the 1,055-kilometre route has been named ‘President Donald J. Trump Highway - The Peace Road for Prosperity’.
“Thank you to Highly Respected Mohammed VI, the King of Morocco - Such a great honour! I look forward to travelling the entire length of this great highway someday, hopefully soon!” Trump posted.
Moroccan authorities have not confirmed the naming, with local infrastructure officials referring to the route as the Tiznit-Dakhla Expressway.
The road stretches along Morocco's Atlantic coastline, connecting the city of Tiznit with Laayoune and Dakhla in the disputed Western Sahara region. The expressway forms part of a broader infrastructure project in the south.
