We often come across news in this newspaper about the company or authority concerned promising to give bus stops a facelift with new facilities.
Reading all this assures us that continued efforts are being made to improve the bus services.
With continuous updates, the bus service has indeed covered almost the whole of Bahrain where the population lives.
However, I would like to request the officials who issue these statements to visit the Central Market bus stop (near the defunct Mega Mart) for just five minutes between 8am and 11.30am.
Enter the bus stop when the automatic door is closed, sit on the bench and then stand up just for 30 seconds to see if you are protected from the burning sunshine.
Modern automatic door has been provided at a cost.
Check why passengers have placed a heavy brick near the door, sit on the bench inside the bus stop again and try to read the route display on the bus entering a 75 per cent degree blind curve.
This five-minute physical activity would instantly give you an idea of what’s really needed for the facelift.
