Regional asset manager SICO marked the 10th anniversary of the Bahrain Liquidity Fund (BLF), reporting yesterday a 69 per cent increase in average daily trading values on the Bahrain Bourse since the fund’s inception in June 2016.
The BLF, which SICO manages across its operations in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, was launched to boost market depth, narrow bid-ask spreads, and provide two-way liquidity across listed securities.
Average daily trading value on the exchange rose to BD1.08 million ($2.86m) following the fund’s launch, up from BD638,000 recorded between 2011 and 2016. SICO said the fund accounted for approximately 24pc of the Bahrain Bourse’s total trading activity over the decade.
“Since its inception, the fund has contributed to enhancing liquidity and market depth and stimulating trading activity,” said SICO buy-side deputy group chief executive officer Ali Marshad.
The fund’s mandate aligns with ‘Elevate,’ the Bahrain Bourse’s 2026–2028 capital market development strategy aimed at improving market efficiency and expanding market-making activities.
