BASKETBALL – Bahrain representatives Seef bowed out of contention from the Kaohsiung City Challenger 2026 yesterday in Chinese Taipei.
The kingdom’s squad lost both their games in preliminary Pool A, confirming their early exit from the Fiba 3x3 World Tour tournament, which also acts as a qualifier for the Deqing Masters in China on September 26 and 27.
Seef took to the half-court with the quartet of Bogdan Dragovic, Mohamed Alanzi, Naser Alanzoor, and Hamad Faisal.
They lost their opening game 13-22 to Antwerp from Belgium – the team that formerly carried the Seef name in the past two seasons of the Fiba 3x3 World Tour.
Dragovic had nine points in the defeat while Alanzoor finished with three and Alanzi had one.
Andrej Cuyvers paced Antwerp with nine points while Dennis Donkor chipped in with eight.
The Bahrainis then lost their next game to Utrecht from the Netherlands 8-21.
Faisal finished with four points in the setback while Dragovic and Alanzi scored two apiece.
Nesta Agasi and Joost Poels were the Dutch’s top scorers with six points each, while Stef Poels added five markers.
Antwerp defeated Utrecht 16-11 in the other divisional clash.
With yesterday’s results, both sides marched through to today’s elite eight, where Antwerp will take on Barcelona from Spain and Utrecht will face Toronto from Canada.
The quarters kick off the action in the knockouts, which are also to feature the semi-finals and final later today.
The Fiba 3x3 World Tour is the premier street basketball series under Fiba, featuring tournaments of various levels held around the world.
Masters events are at the highest tier followed by Challengers – both of which are fed by qualifiers, which include Super Quest, Quest, and Lite Quest events.
The kingdom will host a stop on this year’s calendar for the fourth year in a row.
It will be the third staging of the Manama Masters, scheduled to take place on November 20 and 21.
Previous editions were held in 2023 and 2024, while Bahrain hosted the Fiba 3x3 World Tour Final last year.
