DEFENDING champions Riffa registered their first win in the Nasser Bin Hamad Premier League after defeating Hidd 1-0 in a hard-fought match at the Bahrain National Stadium last night.
Mohammed Marhoon scored the only goal of the second round match in the 87th minute.
The win takes Riffa to second place on four points, while Hidd are in ninth on one point.
In the second match, Al Ahli and Budaiya drew 1-1.
Al Ahli was the first to score through Jordan’s Abdul Attar in the second minute of stoppage time in the first half. Budaiya equalised through Abdullah Al Hashash in the 83rd minute.
This is Al Ahli’s second draw in a row and are fifth on two points, while Budaiya registered their first point of the season after losing their first round match against Al Khalidiya 2-0.
The second round matches started yesterday, with Manama beating Al Khalidiya 2-1, East Riffa defeating Muharraq 3-2, and Al Hala and Al Najma drawing 1-1.
