The government has been urged to reassess the ongoing reorganisation of Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (Asry).
Parliament yesterday unanimously approved a proposal put forward by five legislators led by MP Hamad Al Doy, who have stressed the need to safeguard the jobs and rights of Bahraini employees amid growing concerns.

Mr Al Doy claimed that Asry’s restructuring efforts have placed Bahraini workers in a ‘precarious position’ over limited annual pay rises, bonuses and a change in shift patterns.
First deputy speaker MP Abdulnabi Salman claimed that Asry was not the only state-affiliated company where concerns had been raised.

He urged the authorities to ensure that changes ‘do not come at the expense of local workers with economic reforms prioritising national employment and fair labour policies’.
