Her Excellency Fatima bint Jaffar Al-Sairafi, Minister of Tourism, affirmed the strength of Bahraini-Chinese relations in various fields, particularly in the tourism sector, highlighting the mutual desire to strengthen cooperation and expand partnership opportunities between the two countries.
A reception welcomed by the Minister of Tourism to receive a delegation from Guangdong Province, People's Republic of China, headed by His Excellency Liu Hongbing, Deputy Governor of the Provincial Government, and attended by a number of officials from the province's cultural, tourism, sports and foreign affairs sectors.
Her Excellency explained that China is one of the main tourism markets targeted by the Kingdom of Bahrain as part of its 2022-2026 Tourism Strategy. She noted that the Kingdom is keen to continue its tourism promotion efforts in cooperation with major travel and tourism companies and to study the interests of Chinese tourists, aiming to continue to attract a greater number of Chinese visitors by launching specialized tourism packages in cooperation with travel agencies & agents in China. In addition to that, strengthening bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector by coordinating with major companies involved in the conference, meetings and business sectors in the People's Republic of China to host distinguished events in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance tourism cooperation with Guangdong Province, as well as, opportunities to exchange expertise, while organizing joint tourism events and initiatives. Her Excellency noted that the launch of direct flights by Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, to both Guangzhou and Shanghai supports joint efforts in various fields, economic and tourism sectors in particular.
Minister Al-Sairafi affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain's aspiration to build on its existing relations with the People's Republic of China, contributing to opening new horizons for qualitative cooperation, particularly in the field of sustainable tourism, the exchange of tourist and investment delegations, and promoting the Kingdom of Bahrain's tourism, heritage and cultural assets.
For his part, His Excellency Mr Liu Hongbing expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome, emphasizing Guangdong Province's keenness to strengthen cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain and to explore initiatives that contribute to developing tourism and cultural cooperation between both sides.
