TRIBUTES poured in for prominent Bahraini journalist and political analyst Saeed Al Hamad who died yesterday following a heart attack. He was 77.
His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa posted a picture of Mr Al Hamad on his Instagram account yesterday.
“We lost a fighter for the word of truth and a fierce defender of the homeland,” said His Majesty King Hamad’s adviser for media affairs Nabeel Al Hamer in an Instagram post.
Mr Al Hamad, who was born in Muharraq, was known for his patriotic defence of Bahrain’s sovereignty and national identity.
For three decades he worked as a broadcaster, presenter, producer and writer of dozens of programmes at Bahrain Radio and TV under the Information Affairs Ministry.
He also wrote, prepared and presented dozens of diverse programmes ranging from intellectual, heritage, cultural, dramatic to other genres.
Since the launch of His Majesty King Hamad’s Reform Project, the veteran journalist conducted many important political, intellectual and social dialogues on his wide-spread television programme An Open Dialogue.
Mr Al Hamad was awarded multiple certificates of appreciation in the media, intellectual and cultural fields, and he participated in many different conferences and seminars in the region while publishing several media studies.
The Bahraini Journalists’ Association also paid tributes to Mr Al Hamad.
