BADMINTON – BAHRAIN signed off from the Arab Para Badminton Championship 2024 on Sunday night with an impressive 12 medals in the bag, including three gold, at the end of three days of competition at Isa Sports City in Riffa.
The national team also ended the inaugural edition of the competition with three silver medals and six bronze medals. Their total haul put them in third place overall amongst the six participating nations on the final medal tally.
Iraq took the top spot after capturing seven gold medals and two silver, while Saudi Arabia followed as runners-up with three gold, four silver, and one bronze medal.
Ranked behind Bahrain were the UAE with three gold, two silver, and two bronze medals, while Syria came fifth with one gold and three silver medals. Kuwait rounded out the table with three silver medals.
At the end of on-court action on Sunday, the winners were presented their respective awards in the official closing ceremony, attended by officials.
The tournament was organised by the Bahrain Paralympic Committee in cooperation with the Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation and Badminton World Federation.
Meanwhile, the Bahrain Para Badminton International 2024 begins today at the same venue. The event, which is being hosted by the kingdom for the third time, continues until Sunday.
