Bahrain’s Parliament has received high praise for keeping pace with all developments related to digital policy and artificial intelligence (AI).
This came as legislator Dr Mahdi Al Shuwaikh yesterday represented Parliamentary Division at a workshop titled ‘Parliamentary Participation in Digital Policy’, as part of the activities of the 149th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva, Switzerland.
The workshop witnessed discussions related to digital policy and AI, identifying the needs of parliaments and addressing gaps.
Dr Al Shuwaikh said, “We are all aware of the profound impact of digital policy on the lives of citizens and societies.
Parliaments must play a vital role in formulating laws and legislation that regulate the use of technology and information in a way that enhances innovation in the digital environment on the one hand and guarantees citizens’ rights and freedoms on the other hand.
