Special flights have been chartered and thousands of tickets made available for fans of Bahrain’s national football team as they travel to Kuwait for the highly anticipated 26th Gulf Cup final against Oman tomorrow.
The game will be held at the 60,000-capacity Jaber International Stadium in Kuwait City and is scheduled for a 7:30pm kick-off.
Nine chartered flights have been arranged by the Bahrain Olympic Committee in co-operation with the Bahrain Football Association, Gulf Air, Beyon, National Bank of Bahrain and the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait.
Bahrain’s fans were allocated 18,000 tickets, all of which were sold out last night, the BFA said yesterday.
Gulf Air, Bahrain’s national carrier, announced that it will operate nine round-trip flights to Kuwait International Airport to transport fans for the sporting spectacle. Return flights are scheduled for January 5.
Additional flights were arranged to meet increased demand, Gulf Air said, adding that it has enhanced its capacity for these flights, improving services including cabin crew, ground staff, and airport handling to ensure smooth travel for fans.
The airline expressed appreciation to all contributors and wished Bahrain’s national football team success in securing the Gulf Cup title.
Both Bahrain and Oman are appearing in their sixth finals in the history of the Gulf Cup, with the Bahrainis eyeing only their second title and the Omanis aiming for their third.
