CRICKET – BAHRAIN Women White claimed the seniors’ category title as a week-long celebration of women’s cricket in the kingdom, hosted by the Bahrain Cricket Federation (BCF), came to a grand conclusion.
The ICC Women’s Cricket Week 2026-Criiio initiative brought together schools, aspiring young cricketers, and senior women’s teams from across Bahrain.
Held at the newly inaugurated KHK Cricket Academy, the initiative showcased the growing strength, talent, and potential of women’s cricket in the kingdom through a series of competitive and inspiring matches.
Bahrain Women White were led by Sana Butt, while elsewhere in the event, New Millennium School A emerged as champions of the trophy category, with Bahrain Indian School finishing as runners-up and Indian School Bahrain A securing third place.
The plate category title was won by Ibn Al Hytham Islamic School. The senior women’s category also featured Bahrain Women Red, captained by Rasangika Herath, while another participating school was New Horizon School.
The tournament served as an important platform for player development and talent identification, reinforcing BCF’s commitment to expanding opportunities for female cricketers across all age groups.
The grand finale and closing ceremony were attended by BCF president Sami Ali and BCF treasurer Meenaz Ahmed, along with distinguished guests and supporters of the sport who witnessed the concluding matches and presented awards to the winning teams.
“ICC Women’s Cricket Week 2026 has been a remarkable celebration of talent, passion, and opportunity,” said Ali.
Ahmed added: “It has been inspiring to witness the enthusiasm and commitment shown by the participating schools and players. Initiatives such as these play an important role in encouraging more young girls to embrace cricket and pursue their sporting aspirations with confidence.”
Although unable to attend the finale due to official commitments outside the kingdom, BCF chairman Mohammad Mansoor stated: “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all participants, coaches, officials, volunteers, and supporters who contributed to the success of ICC Women’s Cricket Week 2026.
“The identification of several promising young female cricketers during the tournament is particularly encouraging and reflects the strength of the pathway we are building for women’s cricket in Bahrain.”
BCF expressed their appreciation to all participating schools, players, officials, supporters, volunteers, and KHK Cricket Academy for their contributions to the success of the initiative.
The BCF highlighted that they remain committed to advancing women’s cricket in the kingdom and they look forward to building on the momentum generated by this successful celebration of the game.
