BAHRAIN has taken a step forward in implementing its universal health insurance programme, with the signing of a key deal to ensure the sustainability of health coverage to foreign nationals.
The Supreme Council for Health has signed an agreement with Aon Insurance Company in this regard, its president Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa said yesterday.
Aon is a British-American multinational professional services firm that sells a range of financial risk-mitigation products, including insurance, pension administration, and health-insurance plans.
The agreement, part of the National Health Insurance Programme, aims to ensure coverage of basic health services for all foreign residents by providing a package that includes primary and secondary health services, and emergency and accident coverages ensured by private insurance companies.
