Ways of achieving the goals and aspirations of the GCC countries for further cohesion, integration and co-operation will come under the spotlight at the 46th GCC Summit set to be hosted by Bahrain on December 3.
Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani yesterday expressed pride in hosting the summit in Bahrain, affirming that the gathering embodies the GCC identity and keenness of the member states on achieving aspirations for more progress, growth and prosperity.
GCC Secretary-General Jassim Al Budaiwi announced that Bahrain will host the summit, noting its rich agenda with topics that are of great importance to Gulf citizens.
The officials made the remarks on the sidelines of the opening of the GCC Summit pavilion at Bahrain National Museum yesterday, which was attended by the Foreign Minister, Mr Al Budaiwi, Information Minister Dr Ramzan Al Nuaimi, and several GCC ambassadors to Bahrain.
“We eagerly look forward to Bahrain’s presidency of the upcoming GCC session and to a wise and distinguished Bahraini leadership in steering the council’s work in the coming year,” Mr Al Budaiwi said.
He also highlighted the significance of the newly inaugurated GCC pavilion, which showcases the council’s journey over the past 44 years.
He pointed to the pre-establishment stage and the institutions that preceded the founding of the council, followed by the stages of establishment, development, achievement, and Gulf co-operation and integration in various fields.
He urged all to visit the pavilion and explore the wealth of information it offers about the GCC.
