BAHRAIN’S response to the repercussions of the Iranian attacks demonstrated the importance of co-operation between all members of ‘Team Bahrain’, including the legislative authority, Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa has said.
The minister was speaking at a meeting that brought together senior government officials, MPs and Shura Council members to assess measures taken to protect citizens and residents, maintain supplies and services, respond to emergencies and repair damage caused by the attacks.
The meeting was chaired by National Assembly and Parliament Speaker Ahmed Al Musallam, Shura Council Chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh.
Gen Shaikh Rashid, who led the government side, said He also said authorities had focused on maintaining food, water and medicine supplies by securing strategic stocks, diversifying sources of supply, monitoring markets and strengthening domestic production.
He warned that the continuing conflict meant national preparedness could not be reduced, saying the circumstances required continued co-ordination and additional measures where necessary.
Gen Shaikh Rashid also stressed the importance of preserving national cohesion, saying the current challenges should strengthen co-operation rather than become a source of division.
Mr Al Musallam praised His Majesty King Hamad for placing citizens at the heart of national priorities and commended His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for overseeing government efforts.
He also praised the Bahrain Defence Force, National Guard, the Interior Ministry and other security agencies for their role in confronting the attacks, while thanking government institutions, private-sector organisations and the wider community for their response.
Mr Al Musallam highlighted HRH Prince Salman’s recent visits to Sitra and Hidd, where he inspected efforts to repair damage to citizens’ homes and vehicles.
He said the visits reflected the leadership’s commitment to following up on citizens’ needs on the ground and ensuring the necessary support and compensation.
Mr Al Saleh said Bahrain had responded to the attacks with a focus on national security, protecting citizens and maintaining essential services.
He noted that citizens and residents continued to receive essential goods and services despite attacks on vital facilities and civilian targets.
The Shura chairman also praised the government’s crisis response and the co-ordination between ministries and state institutions, saying this had helped ensure the continued availability of services and supplies.
He stressed that national unity and co-operation between the executive and legislative authorities remained essential, particularly during periods of heightened pressure.
The meeting concluded with emphasis on maintaining close executive-legislative co-ordination, protecting national unity and ensuring that Bahrain’s institutions remain prepared to respond to continuing challenges.
