Kuwait City: Kuwait has bought 28 Super Hornet fighter jets from the US giant aerospace company Boeing, according to Alqabas.
The Government of Kuwait sealed the military deal with Boeing in a contract costing up to $1.2 billion.
Under the agreement, Kuwait will purchase 22 single-seat F/A-18E models and six F/A-18Fs, the two-seat version of the jet, said the newspaper, citing an Arab security and defence website.
The US State Department approved the Super Hornet sale to Kuwait in November 2016.
The Government of Kuwait was then planning to buy up to 40 aircraft to replace its current fleet of Hornets, a package which was estimated at $10.1 billion.
